Make Up class (Dec. 3rd). and Posed character guidelines update...

Hey everyone.  Because of the Thanksgiving holiday cutting in to our normal Sat. class time, we need to make up a class we will miss.  As discussed in class last week, the make up date will be Sunday December 3rd.   To be clear, this means we will meet on Sat. Dec. 2nd, AND Sunday, December the 3rd.

If you can not make this date, please let me know.  If you are someone who already has two absences, it would behoove you to make it to both classes this weekend as SVA has a three absence can equal a failure policy.

What will we do for this makeup class?
We will have two goals for the Dec. 2nd and 3rd classes.

First, I'd like to give you last notes to hit for your current characters (the substance characters, not the posed ones).

Secondly, this will be our initial foray in to Marvelous Designer.  Because you will be working on the posed character, and it's much easier to create clothing patterns for static characters in a relaxed pose, Marvelous will NOT be part of the final assignment.  However, we will create some basic garments (and maybe a complex garment depending on the pace of the class) you can include in your final class portfolio submission for the final grade.

Also, as many of you are setting out on your initial block-ins for the posed character this week I wanted to give you an update on my thoughts for the project.  If you want to work symmetrically on a block-in (the way I did for the brother man statue) you may.  I think I was trying to push you to keep the form fluid, but there's no reason to not work symmetrically provided you follow these simple guidelines:

NO DETAIL in the block-out!  Just silhouette!
Work Modular. Keep arms, legs, torso, neck and head separate.  This will make the posing MUCH easier.

Here are some examples of the process for the posed brother man sculpt:

See you next Sat, and have fun with the posed character block-in, and finalizing your current pieces.  You guys are rocking it, KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!  If you have any questions, shoot me an email and let's discuss.
